Our Impact

Our goal is to change our reaction to fear. When something happens, our natural reaction is to be scared. With the coronavirus, we don't know what is going on, we don't know how to fight it, and we don't know what to do.

Naturally, we act out of this fear. However, our current reaction to fear has always been to blame someone or a group of people. In this case, many have taken to blaming the Asian community for the coronavirus.

This is wrong on so many levels. First, the coronavirus is a virus, and thus, this epidemic could have originated from anywhere in the world. Second, the virus has spread all over the world, which means that anyone could be infected; an Italian, an African American, or a Russian could be infected. Therefore, it is not only spiteful to focus on Asians, but it is illogical to do so as well. Third, this bullying is inhumane. Have you taken the time to consider how much suffering and pain they have endured? Have you thought about what they might have lost to this virus? Have you forgotten that Asians are human beings, just like you?

Our goal is to replace our reaction to fear with love and empathy. We believe that the strongest cure is empathy, and so we ask that you have more empathy for others. That is the impact that we hope to make through this movement for empathy.
